Steve Huth is the Director of Qatar's National Computer Security and Incident Response Team, Q-CERT. The Q-CERT team is building a program to help protect the nation against cyber attacks and respond effectively when there has been an attack. Q-CERT works with security organizations world-wide to maintain an awareness of global trends and threats.
Before becoming the Q-CERT Director, Huth was the Deputy Director of the CERT program, one of the oldest and best known information security organizations. There he was a leader in the design and start-up of the United States' national CERT program. He was also a Senior Member of the technical staff at Carnegie Mellon's Software Engineering Institute where he was given the Jordan Award for his contributions to the work of the institute.
Huth has had thirty years of experience in a variety of ICT positions including managing large data networks, developing computing and communications infrastructure in Eastern Europe, teaching at the Katz Graduate School of Business, operating system and compiler design, and the co-design and development of the CT100, an early networked microcomputer system.
His educational background includes the Management in Technology Organizations program at Carnegie Mellon.
