
David Newkirk is the CEO of Executive Education at the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business. Mr. Newkirk has nearly 30 years experience working with global consumer-oriented companies on issues of strategy and organization, as both an executive and a consultant.
Newkirk was formerly a Senior Vice President at Booz Allen Hamilton and served as a partner of the firm. As a consultant, Newkirk worked with consumer-oriented companies on all aspects of strategy, organization, marketing, and operations. As a manager of the firm, he served as Director - European Operations; Chairman - Asia Board; and Head - European Consumer Practice and led the firm's strategy practice.
More recently, he has served as a member of the United Kingdom's Competition Commission, an independent director of the British Government's Energy Group Advisory Board and a member of London Business School's Global Advisory Board. He is also non-executive Chairman of ESG Re, a Bermuda-based specialty Reinsurance Company.
Newkirk has also been senior executive at American Express, where he held a series of management positions in the US, Hong Kong and Europe. He holds degrees in mathematics and philosophy from Carleton College and Oxford University, where he was a Marshall Scholar.
