Need for more Internet Arabic content stressed

The need for more Arabic content on the Internet, initiatives to protect the environment, research spearheaded by Qatar Foundation, and development of water technologies were discussed at QFIRST on December 10th, 2007. 

Secretary general of ictQATAR Hessa al-Jaber said 65% of Arabic-speaking Internet users do not speak English and only 0.2% of web pages are in Arabic.

Presenting an overall picture of the developments in Qatar's information and communication technology sector, she said the national master plan consists of programmes in regulation, e-education, e-health, enterprise and e-government to foster the growth of a knowledge-based economy.
