ictQATAR's e-Education Department held a project status meeting, on December 3rd, 2008, at the Diplomatic Club to review the accomplishments of the second phase of the School Knowledge Net (K-Net) project and determine the upcoming steps in the project.

A number of the project's coordinators attended the event, in addition to the principals of Independent Schools participating in the project. "The project has proven to be beneficial for students, parents and teachers alike", Dr Ghadah Omar Fakieh, ictQATAR's e-Education Manager expressed, clarifying that the project leverages students' enthusiasm for learning and active information search, in addition to enhancing the communication between students and teachers and parents, via the interactive platform offered by K-Net.

The meeting also outlined the benefits of the K-Net from the teacher side, in terms of providing an innovative and interactive way of education, as well as improving assignment handling for teachers, who can correct assignments, modify subject syllabuses, and find more creative ways to deliver educational material to students in engaging, appealing ways.

The communication that has been created between parents and teachers via K-net was also an integral part of the meeting, to assess the success of the network in aiding parents to follow-up, ensure and evaluate their children's academic performances, thus granting them more active participation in the educational process.

The project is one of the pioneering projects that highlight the cooperation between ictQATAR and the Supreme Education Council. From only 8 participant schools in 2005, the project has grown ever since, to reach 37 schools in 2008. Plans are in place to include all independent schools in the State of Qatar by 2010 in the knowledge network which will mark the gateway to various upcoming educational projects in Qatar.
